The Brighter Days Festival starts on Friday 10th March 2017 with the Cotton Ball Run. A car and motorcycle rally departing from Whittlesea, north of Melbourne and traveling to Bright. The Cotton Ball Run will muster at the Punkah Pub in Porpunkah at approximately 4pm and the group will travel into Bright arriving at Mafeking Square (Clock Tower) at approximately 5pm on Friday evening of the March Long Weekend.
The Alpine Hotel Stage, in Mafeking Square (Clock Tower) will kick off the weekend entertainment with live music from 5pm. The Brighter Days Festival merchandise van, the Mega Raffle & Event Registrations tent will also be open from 5pm in Mafeking square (Clock Tower) before relocating to the Howitt Park Precinct for operation all day Saturday and Sunday.
The Festival continues early on Saturday morning with the Make it, Bake it, Grow it Market in Howitt Park (until midday) and the Cooper Card Run registrations in Harley Central – a dedicated bike zone located behind the Riverstage, Sibley Sound Shell. Bikes entering the Cooper Card Run please use the Brightside Entrance – Howitt Lane. There is a dedicated Cooper Card Run parking and departure point for all participating cars located in the Rotary Slide Car Park. It’s an easy walk across the footbridge for car owners to register, receive the first card and the route before we synchronise the Cooper Card Run Bike and Car departures around 10am. The Cooper Card Run will travel a local area loop with 4 stops to receive subsequent cards to make up the ‘Poker Hand’. Once the Cooper Card Run returns to the event precinct, additional cards can be purchased from the Poker Run tent at Harley Central in order to secure the winning hand!
Harley Central will run all day Saturday and Sunday with the H-D Customs van, H-D Merchandise and Jump Start along with independent stall holders selling a variety of bike and car related goods.
The playground in Howitt Park becomes part of the dedicated Kids Zone with roving entertainers, a Jumping Castle, face painting and more.
The Brighter Days Food Court will operate all day Saturday and Sunday within the Festival precinct and is located on the corner of Riverside Avenue & Howitt Lane. The Brighter Days Bar will operate within this area from 2.30pm – 9.30pm both Saturday and Sunday. During these operating hours, access to the festival will be limited to pedestrian entry via 3 entrances.
Brightside Entrance – Howitt Lane, Northside Entrance – Splashpark Footbridge, Harley Entrance – Riverside Avenue. Donation wristbands for our #raiseyourwristBDF17 campaign can be purchased at these entrances or at the Merchandise tent. Live music kicks off on the Riverstage from 10am until 10pm. The Artists playing on Saturday are Jarryn, Col Jones, Tesky Bros, Turk Tresize, Mick Pealing Band, Cool Change, Joe Camilleri and Mental as Anything.
It’s another early start on Sunday morning with first in getting the best spots for the Car Show ‘n Shine held around Mafeking Square (Clock Tower). Entertainment from 10.30am provided by Jacuzzi Masterpiece & Turk Tresize on the Alpine Hotel Stage. Meanwhile the bikes will be on show in the Bike Show ‘n Shine at Harley Central. Bikes entering the Show ‘n Shine please use the Brightside Entrance – Howitt Lane.
The Amazing Chase is fun for all the family and suitable for all ages. Teams of four follow the clues to solve puzzles in and around Bright. Teams depart around 9am from in front of the Riverstage in Howitt Park.
The Babes Longest Lunch will be an unforgettably elegant affair held at Boynton’s Feathertop Winery between 11am – 1.30pm Sunday. Babes Buses will depart from the Brighter Days Bus Zone outside the Alpine Info Centre on Gavan St at 10.40am and will return by 2pm.
Live music on Sunday on the Riverstage from midday until 10pm includes Mr Bluez, Jacuzzi Masterpiece, the Bright Stars Talent Show, Raw Britt, Wingspan, Chocolate Starfish and Screamin’ Eagles. The Mega raffle draw and charity items Auctioned on Sunday at 6pm. Registrations for all events are NOW OPEN on our website and tickets to the MEGA RAFFLE can also be purchased via our website www.brighterdays.org.au.
The Brighter Days Festival has a designated all day parking area located on Toorak Avenue, Bright. Access to the Festival precinct is an easy walk over the footbridge and through the Northside Entrance - near the Splash Park.
There is no public CAR parking or access within the Festival Precinct at all over the weekend. There is designated parking for motorbikes at the rear of Harley Central within the precinct during the Poker Run and the Bike Show ‘n Shine. Normal council parking restrictions apply in Bright and surrounds during the Festival. Patrons from the surrounding areas are encouraged to use the bus service on offer.
The Brighter Days Committee have appointed the services of a local recognised bus company, Bright and District Leisure Tours for the purposes of transporting patrons to and from our events. The buses will run from the townships of Harrietville, Wandiligong and Porepunkah on the hour, every hour from 10am till late into Bright on Saturday and Sunday. The Brighter Days Bus Zone for drop off and pick ups is located just past the Brightside Entrance, outside the Alpine Visitor Information Centre, Gavan Street, Bright. Buses can be arranged on Friday evening by direct contact: Bright and District Leisure Tours- Mobile: 0421 648 151. Patrons will be required to pay cash for each trip upon pick up.
